Samurai are professional warriors, members of the noble class who are trained in the arts of warfare. They are not only trained for their role in society, they are born for it—born into a system of allegiance, loyalty, and honor that influences every stage of their lives. A samurai cut loose from this system is no longer a samurai; he is an ordinary fighter, a Ronin with no honor and no standing in society.
Way of the Sword
Beginning when you choose this archetype at 3rd
level, when you are wielding a longsword in your main hand and a shortsword in your off-hand you gain a +1 to AC.
Longswords and Shortswords are considered light weapons for the purposes of dual wielding.
Starting at 7th level, your movements on the battlefield are quick
and deadly… as is your gaze. Increase your Initiative bonus by your Wis Modifier.
Whenever you make a Charisma (Intimidation) check, you gain a bonus to the check equal to your Wisdom modifier. Your self-control also causes you to gain proficiency in Wisdom saving throws. If you already have this proficiency, you instead gain proficiency in Intelligence or Charisma saving throws (your choice).
At level 10, the Samurai’s conviction gives him advantage against charm and fear effects.
Bound By Honor
Starting at 15th level, when you are reduced to 0 hit
points and are not killed outright, you can choose to
drop to 1 hit point instead. Once you use this ability, you
can’t use it again until you finish a long rest.
Slaughterer of a Thousand Men
At 18th level, your battles are legendary and enemies know of you and your prowess strikes fear in the heart of your enemies.
As a reaction to rolling your initiative, your enemies must make a Wisdom Saving Throw DC (8+Wisdom Modifer+Your Proficiency Bonus) or be Frightened for 1 minute. If the enemy succeeds the saving throw they are immune to the effect for the next 24 hours.
